Dia Azzawi: Excursions Across Time

An exhibition of the Arab world’s foremost artist, Dia Azzawi, opened this week (Tuesday 10th March) at the Richard Saltoun Gallery in London. Azzawi’s work reflects, over decades, the horrors that have become the norm in the Middle East.

Contemporary in style, his work is nevertheless anchored in ancient Mesopotamian art and culture, that adds weight and legacy to the paintings.

Azzawi’s work is angry and mesmerising as well as being aesthetically astounding. The exhibition is thrilling. See it.

Community Action Ghana

In September 2025 Anthony Dawton and Jim McFarlane flew out to Accra, Ghana to work with the Oxford based NGO, Community Action Ghana. They travelled north up to the Upper Volta area, specifically to the villages of Abunyanyana and Anfoe Bume.

Here Community Action Ghana have being working on building toilet blocks, drilling wells and building libraries in local schools. In the eight days allocated, Dawton and McFarlane photographed not just the buildings that Community Action Ghana have been responsible for but also documented the community, the people and in particular the children whose health and future are benefiting from the buildings that Community Action Ghana have put in place.

NOTLondon

For years Anthony has taken photographs in areas of need worldwide, but after spending some time in his home city, he noticed how many people were living on its streets. He embarked on a new project to raise awareness: NOTLondon.
